Joseph Charles Hayman --- Associate Pastor



Joseph Charles Hayman, the son of Wendell and Dola Hayman, was born in Easton, Maryland on September 8, 1951. He is the fourth of seven children and grew up in the town of Unionville, a small community outside of Easton.

During his childhood years, Joseph became a member of St. Stephens A. M. E. Church and was very active in Sunday school Saved in 1985, rededicated his life to Jesus Christ in December 1999 and baptized in the Holy Ghost. He attended Unionville School for one year and after the school in Unionville closed, Joseph attended Glenwood Elementary School in Easton. While in elementary school, he also participated in the Boy Scouts of America.

Joseph attended Moton High School for two years and before schools were mandated to integrate, he transferred to Easton Middle School under freedom of choice. He had a great love for sports and enjoyed working with the younger boys in Unionville teaching them the principles of various athletics. He graduated from Easton Senior High School. While a student at Easton High School Joseph participated in baseball, football, and basketball, of which he was team captain.

During the summer vacations, Joseph was employed by the Easton Parks and Recreation under the direction of Bob Mavity.  He also worked in the office at the Easton High School. Because of his interests in sports, he continued his education at Morgan State University. He graduated from Morgan State University with a major in Physical education and a minor in Science.

He taught at Pimlico Junior High School during the academic year of 1975-1976.
In January 1976, Joseph married Karen Pinkett of St. Michaels, Maryland. He accepted a teaching postion in the Talbot County Public School system in the fall of 1976 and continued to work in the school system until December 1999.

Before moving to St. Michaels, Joseph and Karen resided on the Western Shore. After moving to St. Michaels, Joseph became a member of Union United Methodist Church of which he was a member of the Methodist Men’s Choir and the Gospel Choir. As a resident of St. Michaels, he served on the St. Michaels Town Commission.

Joseph became a member of TriLife Christian Center where he served as lead deacon and sang on the Praise Team. In the fall of 2000, Joseph accepted a position at the Chesapeake Christian School where he is employed as a Physical Education teacher, athletic director, and coach of boys’ basketball, baseball, soccer, and track and field.

He is ordained under this ministry and in covenant with Faith & Compassion Fellowship, where he currently serves as assistant pastor.
